  • 1982 – Degree in agriculture (Ing. – equivalent of M.Sc.) received at the University of Agriculture, Brno, Czechoslovakia
  • 1988- Candidate of Sciences degree (equivalent of Ph.D.) in plant physiology awarded by the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czechoslovakia
  • 1996 – habilitation in Plant Physiology, Mendel University in Brno
  • 2001 – professorship in Plant Physiology at Palacký University, the degree attained at the Mendel University in Brno

  • 1998 – The Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Award from Phytochemical Society of Europe, in recognition of work on the identification, analysis and biochemistry of aminopurine phytohormones
  • 1999 – award of Olomouc city, honorary resident of Olomouc
  • 2004- award of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic, in recognition of scientific achievements
