General aspects of the organisms Evolution. Historical overview. Plant architecture. Model organisms. Evolutionary processes in selected organisms: myxomycetes, hydroids, Caenorhabditis elegans (“C-elegans”), Drosophila melanogaster, Lytechinus variegatus, in amphibians and mammals. Evolutionary Plant Genetics: Lower plants, Angiosperms. Gametophyte, fertilization, embryogenesis, plant architecture (stem, flower, roots). Reproduction and evolution of reproduction modes, sex determination. Epigenetics, DNA methylation, genome imprinting, gene silencing, transposable elements.
